Company

iphion is a start-up developing new cutting edge technologies using Internet, Security, Peer-2-Peer and Multi-media technologies.

All electronic communication is migrating to IP based platforms. There are many benefits in using the internet instead of proprietary networks for data, voice and video. The internet is open, two way and ubiquitous. iphion has developed a secure distribution technology to use the open internet for TV distribution. The iphion platform makes secure, distributed and scalable Over The Top Television possible.

iphion is combining internet technology with regular TV to provide a new but familiar and cost-effective TV experience to the consumer. With its products iphion aims to replace cable and satellite TV distribution. For this iphion has developed a dedicated peer assisted network protocol and set-top box. With this iphion player hardware consumers will be able to watch IPTV on their regular television sets.

iphion is founded by Merien ten Houten, co-founder of search engine and portal ilse media, Robert Klep, co-founder of ilse media, Willem Jan Withagen, co-founder of internet service provider IAE, in cooperation with the video coding subgroup of the University of Technology Eindhoven. Between them, the iphion founders share in-depth knowledge about internet, networks and videocompression. They also have prior experience in successfully starting new high-tech companies.
